¶ Installation
¶ Tools required
- Elfin-EW11 dongle + cable version
- USB male 2 pin power supply cable
- Some small electrical cabling, preferably twisted pair 2 wires
- A wire stripper
- A small flathead screwdriver
¶ Dongle installation
- Locate the COM port on the SUN2000 inverter. This port has 8 pins. Pins 3 & 4 are used for RS-485 connection with a battery and/or energy meter. We need pins 1 & 2, connect them to pins B & A of the dongle (orange and white in the picture below).
- Connect the red wire of the USB cable to the positive power input (+) of the dongle, the black wire to the negative input (-). You might need to strip the wires some more to ensure good connection in the screw terminal.
- Plug the USB cable in the USB port of the inverter (or in another USB power supply)
¶ Dongle configuration

Connect to the hotspot with a laptop or smartphone and go to http://10.10.100.254 on a web browser. Login and password are both
admin. -
Go to the Serial port settings and change the baud rate to
9600(leave the rest unchanged: 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity). Change the protocol toModbus. Press Submit. -
Go to the Communication settings and check that you are using a
Tcp server Protocolwith aUart Route(at the bottom). Submit. -
Go to the System settings and change the WiFi mode to STA, type the SSID of your WiFi router in
STA SSIDand the WiFi password as theSTA KEY.
Currently, direct connection of the dongle to the COF-box wifi does not work. You need to connect the dongle to the wifi of the customer. Make sure this is the same network the COFY-box is wired to (e.g. same router).

Under Network Information you can switch of the DHCP to set a fixed IP-address to the device. Optionally change the
WAN DNSto1.1.1.1to stop the device from using it's Chinese default DNS server (1.1.1.1is CloudFlare DNS,8.8.8.8if you prefer Google). Press Submit. -
Go to Others to reboot (reset) the device, so that it connects to the WiFi. If you didn't set the IP-address to something static, you'll need to retrieve the IP-address assigned to the device from your network router, or with nmap or another network scanner. The device announces itself very clearly as “EW11” from “Shanghai High-Flying Electronics Technology Ltd”.
¶ Configuration on the COFY-box
- Log-in to the COFY-box.
- Go to
Settings>Devices and Services. Click onAdd integrationin the lower right corner. Search forHuaweiand selectHuawei Solar. - Fill in the IP address of the dongle. The default port for the device is
8899, use1for theSlave ID, checkUse elevated permissions.
